Always marching to the beat of his own pathological drummer, master painter and illustrated man TOM WOODRUFF’s imagined cast of “irregulars in shape and spirit” that is his “Freak Parade” body of work has finally made its way to LA, where it’s settled into the CAL STATE LONG BEACH ART MUSEUM for an extended residency. On display at the risk-taking institution are all 34 of Woodruff’s large-scale, finely rendered carnivalesque works, which were originally created for an illustrated book of the same name. At a time when LA has come to worship the lesser talents of animation school dropouts and vinyl toy designers, it’s a relief to see a show of this caliber and scope getting the attention it deserves. Don’t miss it…

Newly uncovered evidence strongly supports the widespread “Tom is dead” rumor…
