Sashie Masakatsu stole the show…

LA’s GIANT ROBOT GALLERY was abuzz with feverish collectors dying to get their hands on the next big thing from Japan when “Gesai,” a group show curated by starmaker TAKASHI MURAKAMI opened on Saturday nite.  Featuring work by up-and-coming Japanese artists YASUSHI EBIHARA, JAGA ICHIRO, HISASHI KONDO, SASHIE MASAKATSU, RIE KAWASHIMA, RIEKO SAKURAI, MIKI TAIRA, and ERIKA YAMASHIRO, the show proved that the master’s eye is as acute as ever, and some very lucky people, including our own TIM BISKUP, got the chance to grab some very amazing artwork for equally amazing prices. What has to be the final nail in the “Street Art” coffin was driven in last weekend by none other than MR. BRAINWASH (aka: “The Christian Audigier of Street Art”) when he opened his massive, self-produced “Icons” show in a rented space (which, ironically, was once a real art gallery, pre-recession) in the heart of Chelsea.
