Portland got a rare display of raw painting prowess when ERIC WHITE’s eponymous show of new work debuted at QUALITY PICTURES gallery this weekend. Showcasing an impressive array of masterfully rendered new oil paintings, the shock and awe moment of the sold-out show was reserved for the massive centerpiece of the show, a huge new painting comprised of dozens of smaller paintings rendered as if they were actual framed pieces of art hung against a wall covered with intricate floral wallpaper. Needless to say, the town’s art cognoscenti descended upon the show in full force, making Mr White feel like the belle of the ball, if only for one nite. HAVE A LOOK:
